Kursaal Tonnara

Within the walls of Tonnara Bordonaro – Vergine Maria in Palermo, Kursaal Tonnara was opened with an inauguration party on 10th June 2006.

It features two bars; an open air one, just in the middle of the courtyard, in the shape of a boat, and an indoor one, in an lounge with large French-windows overlooking the sea. This is the ideal place for a drink and a chat, comfortably sitting on the sofas.

Two are also the restaurant areas: one among the trees, in the courtyard and the other one on a terrace with an astonishing view on the sea.

The space which used to be the abattoir, with its large tuna cutting board, is meant for quick meals and snacks with local sea food (available according to the season). Next to it, within the area where once the tuna fish was hung to drip down, it is possible to play bowls.

In the backyard there is an open air theatre;  400 seats with sea view destined to concerts, plays and movies. Also here bar service is available.

The ancient wet-dock, which still houses the old tuna-fishing boats, is now museum of itself, that is of the old tuna-fishing  plant.

Year 2009 will see the opening of a small charming hotel (4-5 rooms) and, in the tower.
